Kyros was 25 when he met scarlett at 15 (16 in the manga). kyros is now 44 and rebecca is 16, so he had rebecca when he was 28, so scarlett was 18/19 when she gave birth. if my math is correct.

For the Americans watching, I'm not saying what's right or wrong, but if you actually look at the age of consent laws around the world you'll find the number of 18 to be kinda arbitrary. Canada's age of consent (across the border, and with very similar culture and moral values) is 16; most European countries are between 14-16. Heck, even some U.S. states, like Alabama, have age of consent at 16. Just a friendly fyi

There was a timeskip between when Kyros met Scarlet and them then being in love, because King Riku's hairstyle changes, which in anime we all know means a timeskip. They just didn't spell out exactly how long in that moment. Also historically women in royal families would be married off in arranged marriages in their early to mid teens so letting their daughter marry whoever she wants and even staging her death so she could do so is pretty progressive of them. I don't think this is a "japan" thing, I think this is "how royal families historically handle marriage" thing.

i dont agree with kyros/scarlett but i can tell you that in japan no one bats an eye at this... because the legal age of consent there is like 13... thats why in a lot of anime/manga you see younger girls/guys with older people. but definitely a culture thing, and for sure not with it. if you ever seen Card Capture Sakura, shes in jr high and has a crush on her teacher. and no one bats an eye because of their idea of consent. fucked up for sure. also thats why in Japan being a Pedophile is so much worst then here.... because to be labeled a pedophile there... you have to go for single digits... so you know those dudes some sickos. but yeah for the dragons thats why you see that a lot in anime and manga
