The Nutcracker toys are necessary to make the journey from point A to point B less easy, because then you have a problem with continuity, were it seemed that all the Trouble Doffy went to to rearrange the terrain to stall Luffy and Law, was pointless.

Even those nutcracker toys were unnecessary addition and luffy falling off from the palace just to keep running for chapters and chapters so he can get back up again to fight doffy. It’s all unnecessary amd the arc could have been 30 chapters shorter. That 30 chapters could have been something more enjoyable, maybe a different arc or some sort.
