The Wrestle Me! Special Newsletter: The Shadowy Wrestling Career of Jimmy Savile

As explained (fairly badly) in the podcast this week, this is a special about the wrestling career of Jimmy Savile, and I’ve decided to chuck it out on its own, instead of with the rest of the usual newsletter. The reason for this is one of tone – unusually for us, this is a bit heavy in places, dealing as it does with one of the single most prolific sexual abusers in British history. As such, there’s some things in here that might be unsettling or triggering for some people – I’ve avoided any talk of explicit abuse, but it does talk about Savile’s predatory history and it’s a bleak peek into a shadowy world that some people might prefer not to get involved with. As I say, nothing explicit (although there’s some dated and sometimes offensive language in some of the quotes), but just wanted to give you a heads up that this (by its very nature) isn’t quite the “ha ha, that wrestler looks like a cat” style of nonsense we usually do on Wrestle Me!

But ever since we started, I’ve wanted to tell this story – mainly because no one else has. I’d really appreciate it if you’d all be so kind not to share it online – only because (a) it was a lot of work, (b) I’ve not cleared any of the images within it, and (c) it’s likely to form the backbone of a proper, genuine Wrestle Me! book.
