I think, if you look at the timeline, he was hated by many more for his outrageous lies than his racism, which is wild.

Might be worth doing an episode on the TMZ Hulk Hogan episode. Ashamed to see Mick Foley excusing Hogan's racism. Although I appreciate it came with good intentions.

Wrote a blog on Hogan dying and a lot of the contents is cribbed from Wrestle Me, so apologies. https://summers2theb.wordpress.com/2025/07/25/hulking-down-part-one/

Eric Bischoff's "thanks for the house" comment was a reference to arena attendance, not his actual house.

Here in America, political pundits did exposés on Hulk Hogan that were delivered with an air of absolute solemnity. Obviously, the reasons behind these deep dives had little to do with his wrestling career and everything to do with the fact that the last year of his life was spent being a MAGA cheerleader, but still. It's ironic to me that someone who was never truly respected or taken seriously in his lifetime got the kind of gravitas usually reserved for a head of state. That's wild for someone who, up until 10 years ago, was looked at as little more than a novelty act from the '80s. Like, imagine if think pieces were written about Yahoo Serious.

Really the Entertainment side of Hogan it's like Rod Hull and Emu really if you look at the episode of the word he appeared on its mostly cringe, I can remember Hogan on trying to sell suburban commando he was on Des O'Connor not Wogan which shows really how much penetration in to entertainment but most of Hogans problem much like Helwig is ego as really the best of the 1980's wrestler turned actor was Piper especially his appearances in its always sunny.

Really the biggest mistake Hogan ever did was the reality show much like John Cena also his desperate attention seeking since Hogan Knows Best removed all the sheen. The lying and siding with people like Trump or Dana White guys with horrible views who say cruel and petty things and the Bubba the Love Sponge stuff before and after they Wrecked TNA is why most modern fans just think Hogan kinda sucks.... Also the steroids is probably what Killed him too and had he done a tour on how steroids pain killers and drugs are what wrecked his body but instead he was selling a rubbish beer.

I don't think about Hulk Hogan anymore except to idly wonder whether the Iron Sheik gets to have breaks in between applying the camel clutch to that jabroni for eternity in whatever passes for an afterlife.

Remember, his walk out song in the 80s had the following lyrics: " I am a real American
Fight for the rights of every man
I am a real American
Fight for what's right
Fight for your life"
