Hell yeah it's better. Sorry but all the characters in this anime have their one "quirk" that they just repeat over and over to fucking death. Barely any character growth for most of them, the one thing this show had was cool fights and style, and the animation team sucks ass. From still frames, to poorly animated scenes, to attacks not connecting like they should, hard hitting scenes like Wolf in Sheep's Clothing being poorly animated and hamfisted jokes ruining the badass moments. I could go on. Absolute mid anime, being generous. The manga still suffers from not the best writing, but at least it does the badassery in the series justice. While Fairy Tail also has very mid writing, they at least got a decent enough animation team on the job that wasn't so wildly inconsistent and sometimes downright lazy.
