I find her more apathetic feeling nature helps me distinguish her from the more "normal" humans in the story and helps me feel like I'm reading about an actual dark elf. The problem i have with a lot of non-human main characters is they end up just feeling like I'm reading about a human cosplaying a different race, and then what's the point even making them non-human in the first place.
