It has good scenes but it also has horrible execution on some scenes. Chill out and don’t be offended, it’s still good overall, just pointing out what could be done better. And so what if Oda approved it, are you implying he is perfect then? Lol

Its never going to be the same as the anime no matter what. These changes were approved by oda himself. The reviews are already out and they are very positive due to people being more open minded. If you still stuck in the anime/manga then you are never gonna like this. Dont be one of those Marvel weebs when they see a new marvel film they go "oH iN tHE cOmIcS derpy derp derp derp" You really want to be one of those?

Try watching different movies from other countries other than mainstream hollywood movies then it wont bother you at all. One piece is not just one culture so expect the characters to have different accents.

2023-09-01 17:58:03 +0000 UTCOverall, I think the first episode was mid. Not as good as I imagined, Things I didn't like were luffy's mannerism, completely different from the luffy anime. Also did not like the backstory with shanks, I think that part was poorly done (acting and execution of the story in the bar scene). One thing that did surprise me tho was how they changed it to a Pirates of the Caribbean vibe and there's just straight up gore and killing, unlike the one piece we know. I guess the series was made for the western viewers, the show has an American filming style to it, so the humor and characteristics are different. If I was watching this first without knowing about the anime, I might be confused. I also can't imagine this to go all the way to the new world where everything is going to be 90% CGI because of the power boosts and destruction level unlike the simple fight scenes in East Blue. I do see the effort that was put in the show and its definitely better than other live action animes out there.

It never would've worked well if we didnt see people get cut up cuz this is live action. We cant go the disney route on this one. Even the finger is censored in the anime but not in the manga. They be flipping off people in the manga lmao. And for those who didnt like luffy's actor then take that up to oda who chose him lmao. If oda says he is luffy then HE IS luffy lmao. Based on the positive reviews he definitely chose the right one

First impression: -I liked the directing, taking us through 3 mc's paths and meeting for Captain Morgan. -CGI wasn't terrible, I didn't mind any of it really -Casting was very solid with the exception of one so far. Alvida killed her role, Zoro and Nami both solid actors too. Koby was a little mid but that's aight. Negative take: - I honestly didn't love Luffy's acting/depiction. The actor's smile didn't seem real to me and comes off a bit nefarious..idk lol. I hope it gets better and this could also be a preference thing, but the Spanish vibe doesn't really fit the tone in the rest of the show imo. Preview for rest of season looked good and Arlong grew on me from hearing the VA and seeing the preview. Overall optimistic, I enjoyed watching the 1st ep.
