That's highly doubtful, it was just an unclear translation. He was trying to say the markings on non-straight edge swords come in many extra designs, and the blank meant "example of design" like wavy or spiky. Wado has a straight edge. Kitetsu has a random uneven edge. Yubashiri had an even teeth edge. Enma has an uneven flames edge. Shusui has an even spiky/waves edge.
