2023-10-15 18:32:54 +0000 UTCA ref should only be stopping fights when one fighter is taking hits and isn't making any effort to defend himself. When they get knocked out on their feet, just completely dazed, and the other guy is just wailing on them. That's when it gets real dangerous and the ref should jump in-between them and stop it. Which, in my opinion, should have happened in a ton of earlier fights too. A lot of Ippo's fights have Ippo dazed, and he's just being rocked with a dozen haymakers. I get that it's an anime, but that, and coaches not throwing in the towel when it looks dangerous for their fighter (which should also happen much, much more) are two gripes I have with the series. So Aoki making it through three rounds? A-OK. He was guarding each hit, no clean hits, just biding his time.
