Vegapunks theory is that Devil Fruits manifest from the dreams/imagination of people, someone thought woulnt it be cool if you could open doors anywhere...Door Fruit, to a bird or lion or tiger...Zoans. to be made lightning, fire, magma...Logias.

2023-10-26 19:56:12 +0000 UTCI think VegaPunk was saying ppl used their Haki or Will to unintentionally create devil fruits by dreaming or wishing so hard that they had certain abilities and their Will was imprinted on a fruit that someone with a similar will would later find...but thats how I deciphered it but it would explain why they say the fruit has a will of its own and how it chooses its owner

2023-10-24 02:49:02 +0000 UTCThis chapter made so much sense and indeed broke us at the time because Devil Fruit powers are so unnatural, they have to somehow come from people's wishes/dreams and not nature. I think Oda even hinted decades ago when talking about his creative thought process, "women want smooth skin" so there's a Smooth-Smooth Fruit. And best of all, Blackbeard famously said "People's dreams...never end!!" Devil Fruits reincarnate and never die because they are people's dreams! And Vegapunk saying Nika exists if he is needed sounds like Hiruluk saying "People only die when they are forgotten!" The ultimate foreshadowing!
