The cloak known as "The Bouncing Beak" was crafted by the renowned entertainer, Epona Archippos, to add a touch of spectacle to their performances. Despite its amusing appearance, this unique piece was created from an exceptional material, innovated by Epona themselves. This distinctive material was synthesized from a particular species of ooze, a result of Epona's meticulous research and breeding efforts.

The ooze possessed a remarkable physiology, with its body demonstrating unique properties that allowed it to absorb and neutralize high-velocity bludgeoning forces upon impact. Once harvested, the ooze's slime could be transformed into a fabric that had the ability to stretch, absorb, and dampen any impact to a certain degree.

Epona ultimately sold their ground-breaking research to The Grand Library, securing funds for their next grand performance. Since then, the original research papers were transferred to The Archive, where they have been studied, replicated, and refined.

Rubbery Resistance. While wearing this cloak, you have resistance to bludgeoning damage as the material absorbs and dampens the impact.

Duck and Bounce. When you are hit by a melee attack or fail a Dexterity saving throw, you can use your reaction to inflate the cloak like a rubber duck. The sudden inflation lessens the impact, halving the damage you would receive. Additionally, the force of the expansion pushes you 30 feet away in a direction of your choice, not occupied by another creature or a solid obstacle. If you do hit an obstacle, you bounce another 15 feet away in a different direction, also of your choice. After you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
