March 2024 - Monthly Update

Hello, True Believers!

Will here with this month's state of the Patreon, and between the number of changes and the facelift - it's a doozy!

To begin with, the old asset distribution system via the Google Drive is officially depreciated. Now all assets, animations and Dungeondraft packs are accessed through the LORE Airbridge. This is a much faster and more streamlined process that you will find far superior to the old method. All the relevant links can be accessed through the LORE Central Hub.

Secondly, it has been nearly two years of creating for LORE now, with thousands of hand drawn assets and hundreds of animations in the collection with more being drawn nearly every day. 

Between the Patreon, the creation of assets and the managing of  a near thousand strong Discord community, it's gone from something I did a couple hours a week as a hobby, to a full-time job. That said, I have created a new series of Patreon tiers to reflect the changes in value since the inception of the endeavor.

This isn't something that I did flippantly, it took a lot of consideration re: the amount of effort and direction I want to take the Patreon. I want to reward the folks that have been with me from the start - So as long as you remain subbed to your tier, you're grandfathered in at the original rate. Nobody can join the old tiers anymore, so if you unsubscribe you'll have to resubscribe to one of the new tiers. But you can stay at the original rates for perpetuity as my thanks for your support when this place was just getting started. Seriously and truly - Thank you!

Lastly you'll note the whole Patreon has gotten a facelift, with new, easier to parse formatting, a unified art style, and more frequent and cogent asset updates. It was time to elevate the whole experience a little, and I hope you find the work put into the presentation to be easier on the eyes and brain than the old format. 

This month sees a total revamping and additions to the Cattlepunx Range, new additions to Grimdorx, and several new animations. All of  this months assets are live in the Airbridge.

This month's Dungeondraft release is live on the LORE Airbridge and sees the revamping of the Cattlepunx range with hundreds of new assets in the range. Additionally, this month sees additions to the Grimdorx range and a reformatting of Atompunx. 

Please note that these new packs may not be backwards compatible with previous map save files, and finish any existing maps before utilizing these new asset packs, if the oid maps use previous versions of these asset packs. 

We are thrilled to announce The Official LORE Mapmaking Contest!

To be eligible to enter you must

• Be a current Patreon member
• Be a member of the LORE Discord Community

There are two categories for each monthly contest. 

Functional: This category is for maps with a focus on tactical encounters and composition, designed to be finished with in VTT lighting and effects. Therefore judging maps in this category is weighted by design over appearance. 

Aesthetic: This category is for maps with a focus on presentation and appearance. Maps in this category are meant to be judged as final pieces, with the lighting and effects baked into the image file itself. Judging maps in this category is weighted by appearance over design.

In order for your map to qualify for the contest, it must be submitted in the appropriate channel in the LORE discord by the last calendar week of the month and contain at least some LORE assets.

The last week of the month will be used by the LORE admin team to select the winners in each category.

1st place in each category wins the recipient the following

• A custom commissioned asset, token or character art piece from Will, the artist behind LORE (the only way to commission him directly)
• A special discord role in the Winner's Circle
• A guest judge seat, in the month's contest.
  

Winners of the previous month that accept the guest judge role are ineligible to compete on the month they act as contest judge, but will be eligible again for the next month's contest. Looking forward to see what you all create!
