If you guessed Sheep. You were right! And you subscribers are the first platform to announce this on!
How and why did we end up with Sheep?! Well, here's the story.
Months ago when Stevie arrived. I was about at my wits ends with her non-stop herding of the animals/lights/and shadows. She was really stressing the foxes out at this time.
I knew it was in her blood. But since she wasn't allowed to herd our animals, and she wasn't allowed to herd shadows (because shadow chasing is a bad obsession for her) I had felt bad.
So I CONSIDERED sheep 🐑🐑.
I thought if I gave her a job and had her herd sheep away at night it could help her.
I saw an ad for some babydoll sheep posted and I had Ethan call on them. I asked them questions on their care and I was ready.
After more thought, I decided it might not be the best idea. I had so many thoughts going through my head.
Firstly, I would have to purchase the sheep, and in that case they wouldn't be rescues. Which meant their care would be financially all on Ethan and I including paying for them to be cared for when I'm away. Purchasing a personal pet is a much bigger commitment for myself than taking on a rescue that staff can care for.
Also, would this even help Stevie? That was a gamble.
Should I really take on more animals to try to help an animal that might just end up getting adopted soon anyways?
During that week I ended up having so many responsibilities we couldn't make the time to drive to get them, so I unfortunately decided to pass on the sheep. For now at least. But they were always on my mind.
Well, unexpectedly about a week ago we got a message from the sheep owners. They asked if we could take the sheep and they would deliver!! Turns out their son (about 11) was very attached to the sheep so it was us or slaughter house, as they are farmers and that's usually what happens to them. They made a comment to us that they think their son is going to start a farm rescue some day ❤️ because he loves the animals so much. So the son and his mom dropped them off. Their names are Luke (white) and Cooper (black)!
Everything turned out great in the end and I'm happy to have two rescue sheep. Glad they ended up with us!
FYI Stevie couldn't care less about herding them 😅
But our horse Trinity loves them.
