I guess you already know since you watched a lot of kdramas. In Korea, you actually kinda need parent's aprroval to marry someone unless you are going to end relationship with your family. Dating might be not but definitely for marriage because bloodline and family comes first in Korean culture. Also, adopting or raising a child who isn't your biological child really matters in Korea (Bloodline really matters in Asian cultures).
