Drinking My Way Through: *The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies* (Full Length Reaction)

It is officially time for us to watch the third and final Hobbit movie (thank god)

Now I won't lie I think because I drank my way through this movie, I had a much better time than I expected to. I also threw out any expectations regarding the story or quality because so many people told me the third one was their least favorite. Key to enjoying something that might possibly be bad: drink. (jk, don't rely on alcohol for fun. That's bad) (but also... it did work)

Dragon knife twins!

My brain was just connecting what I was seeing to things I know 😂

Gina

so I understand your confusion with the whole why is galadriel and saruman in this trilogy, but to be fair, in the book gandalf does go on his little own adventure and that is the story they expanded on in this trilogy...among other more questionable desicions...

Strauss

Sees a war piggy die in battle and starts talking about how much she loves crispy bacon. Wine Gina is a menace lmao

Aw beans, I was typing up a long ass comment and my phone decided to just delete it. In short, this movie was the most fun of the trilogy! Probably because I was drunk, and the watch along was more fun than The Uglies one because you were drunk too! This really was the right way to actually enjoy this movie. Thanks for the video, can’t wait for HtTYD, I’ve somehow never seen it! Can’t wait for the next movie you drink your way through, if you don’t have one in mind yet, allow me to suggest a couple. First, Twisted Pair directed by Neil Breen. Breen is truly a god amongst men when it comes to “so bad it’s good” cinema. I’ve seen his film Fateful Findings, which was a great hilarious drunk watch, and Twisted Pair looks to me like it might be even better. And then I also suggest RRR. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s an Indian epic action film (3hrs long, so truly an epic) set in 1910’s India about two Indian men on opposite sides of British Imperialism. It’s got the craziest action scenes and stunts I’ve ever seen, it’s got bromance, it’s got evil British people. You don’t need to drink to watch this movie, but it’s one of those movies where it’s somehow even MORE fun if you do.

Magic is made out like with intention and thought, like Arwen "asked" the river to take the wraiths away, the magic ring also works with thought and intention, Bilbo never knew it was the one ring or that was related to Sauron, so he never thought of him when he used it, but Frodo knew and the moment he uses it he thinks of Sauron so he searches it with his thoughts, and Sauron finds it quick because of that.

If you haven’t read the book and then aren’t expecting it to be as close as possible to the book, I’d argue they’re really good movies (1st one is great and the next 2 are good but can be very good if you are a fan of the fantasy/dark fantasy genre). I watched them when they were released and despite not liking the cliffhanger of the 2nd one I remember living these movies! Definitely the type of movies I watched more than once

Time to drink and smoke along! Man, I feel like the dragon was the best part of the second movie, and he’s already dead 13 minutes in 😭 Also that man using his son to aim the giant ballista arrow was hilarious. Like, was there really, TRULY nothing else you could use to aim?? 😂 Cuz that bowstring would’ve absolutely destroyed that kid’s face. As long as this movie doesn’t have an extended 20 minute long river barrel riding sequence, maybe it’ll be fun in a dumb bad way.

I have that exact same gold dragon knife💀 Twas a good purchase

This was my first time watching this movie too. I actually think I liked it more than the second one. I'm not saying this one was good but it felt like more happened in this one (even though the last hour or so kind of dragged on). The second one just felt like I was waiting for something to happen and nothing ever did. As for Bilbo not being affected by the ring as much, my guess is that Sauron just wasn't as strong yet here as he was in the LotR movies. And also, as Frodo got closer to Mount Doom, I think the pull of the ring trying to return to it's master got stronger. That's just my theory on it, I don't have any evidence to back it up. I also just want to say thank you so much for the reactions Gina! It's always a fun time!

Zac

ooh I haven't seen the first one in a while and I've never seen the other two so will definitely be adding these to the list!

Gina

Hey Gina! Love your reactions to these even if the movies aren’t great lol- have you ever watched the 3 Narnia movies? If you haven’t I think you should react to them! They’re a great adaptation of classic fantasy and overall are really well made! Something to consider.. (:
