Visual Novel Log 2

I've been actively working on the PMTS VN, especially since I haven't been able to work on Unreal Engine.


Over the past week I've updated the UI graphics, so it has a more filigree style, I feel it adds to the magic feel since the story takes place in a magical land.

I've also made a side menu for additional options, but I'm not sure which people actually use in VNs. These were the defaults controls.

I do have the prologue chapter completely placed in the script with placeholder images.

It may not sound like a lot but its taking a lot learn a lot of this, and my husband has been helping me out with things here and there, which has been really helpful because sometimes after spending hours trying to figure something out. He understands what I'm doing or trying to do and can help show me how do it how I want.

This following week I'm hoping to work on the main characters artwork, and fixing a few issues, adding a few effects. I'm also still debating on the fonts I'm using. Mostly because this style is good for people with dyslexia (which I do have) but I'm not sure if it fits the theme. I may try to find a way to overwrite texts to switch between fonts for dyslexia. But that may be a bit out side my scope. An idea I'd like to maybe look into.

Also I have been thinking about backgrounds, and the main story takes place in a particular place, and my thought was if I could model it in blender and texture it with my own style, I could use 3d backgrounds, and do some edits to match my needs. It may take a few weeks to do that, but would probably take less time in the long run, since normally a background takes me 20-40 hours, and if that room has at least 6 shots, it would be 120-240 hour of work, where I think 3d modeling it would be about 100-150 hours of work and Id be able to make as many shots as I'd want with it. BUT... it could also not work XD and I just wait all the time.

I've also been spending time writing a side story to a story I wrote like 15 years ago, lol. Something about writing it makes me feel good, and excited. I don't know if I'll share it, I don't think others would like it, but I do enjoy it. It actually shares characters that are in this story, (they actually have reoccurred in at least 4 of my stories.)
