When I started out writing on MCStories I never used to have to worry about finding the perfect image to go with a story. I'd have a tale in my head that I wanted to tell, and everything would spool out from there. I could cast people I knew in the various roles, changing the names of course or imagine Hollywood stars performing my short stories.
When I resumed writing on Tumblr however I realized that Tumblr is a largely visual medium. Large blocks of text are less compelling than large blocks of text with an interesting image and so I began to include an image at the top of each story. Finding pictures on Tumblr was easy enough, as every day dozens of images of attractive models would come across my feed. Following blogs dedicated to posting pictures of beautiful women meant a never ending supply of them.
Now that I don't write on Tumblr and thanks to the porn purge there's fewer of those blogs, I have to go hunting for my photos.
If you've been following my writing for awhile, or even just spent five minutes perusing my blog, you'd realize that I do have a physical type that I'm drawn to writing about. So I go to sites and do searches for models fitting that description and find ones that I like.
Sometimes I'll have a story idea and search for a specific type of picture, say a woman holding her hand to her head as if she's in the middle of a hypnotic induction. Other times a picture will inform the story I end up writing, with the setting, situation or other factors being suggested by the picture.
If nothing immediately comes to mind I'll save the photo in my "Drafts" folder and wait until I have a story that perfectly lines up with the image.
I do my best to ensure that a story fits the picture and that I find a picture to fit a story.
A few other guidelines I (generally) try to follow:
So what sort of photos do you like?
In your opinion what are some of my best matches between a story and a photo?
As always thanks for reading and supporting!
