Dr. Who Classic - Kinda Part 2

So, here is the second part. As interesting as the first one. I really like the Classics very much so far. Enjoy :)

Dr. Who Classic - Kinda Part 2

Thanks for pointing that out. "Dream Time" is an nice extra on the DVD talking about the story. As you mention, they have retrospective interviews with the cast and crew recalling the 1980s production. But although there are a handful of still pictures of the story production in the documentary, they don't show any behind-the-scenes video of them making or talking about the story at the time. Unfortunately, these DVD extras are made under the assumption that they don't need to worry about spoiling other stories - and they do show and talk about other stories.

There IS a making-of documentary :) It's called 'Dream Time', and it's included on the DVD and Blu-ray releases. It features interviews with the cast, writer, director and the script editor. There's a preview of it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/v6UhdESqRVk

I have never heard of Dailymotion before. So I learned something new today :) I´m happy your enjoying watching the reactions :) Haha yes Hindle has a really cool story in these episodes. I already thought that it wasn´t set on earth, so thank you for the claryfication. :) If this is a very unusual story, that makes me really curious about watching a more ordinary story one day :)

I´m so happy that you do enjoy watching those reactions, because I really enjoy making them. Those Classic episodes feel even more like a surprise than a New Who episode. It´s even less predictable for me, and that makes it so interesting. :) Oh it´s a pity that there is almost no behind the scenes stuff. I would have loved to watch that. That´s very unfortunate :/ Thank you for the behind the scenes moment. I didn´t know that Richard Todd was nominated for an Oscar. The way you´ve written it, I suppose he didn´t win?

I'm enjoying watching these classic episodes with you. Classic Doctor Who was generally in this 25-ish minute episode format with a cliffhanger at the end of each episode making up a multi-part story. "Aliens of London" was a surprise in New Who because suddenly there was a multi-part story with a cliffhanger - just like the old series. There wasn't much behind-the-scenes stuff made in this era. There is a video tape of an early edit of this story which has some slightly extended scenes. They included it as an extra on the DVD. Here is a behind-the-scenes moment: Richard Todd (Sanders - the dome commander) was a veteran British actor from the 1940-60s - he had had an Oscar nomination for best actor. There is a story that at one point Matthew Waterhouse (who played Adric) tried to show him how to act in a scene - horrifying the other actors.

Still watching along with Dailymotion and I'm loving your reaction, especially to Hindle's increasingly manic and bizarre behaviour. I always imagine that the actor had the time of his life playing that part. It's not set on Earth, the people in the dome arrived in a space craft of some kind and have to wait for the "Mothership" to return before they can leave. But the native people, the "Kinda" are very much like people in Earth's Amazonian forests. This is a very unusual story for Classic Who. Just once in a while they would throw something at us that would be completely mind-boggling and this was one of them.
