Thanks fo the info about Freema. :) I didn´t really pay attention to the costume somehow. But I can understand why people wouldn´t like it. I agree with you on the unneeded bloodbath and the pizza lady. Honestly the whole episode was somehow wrong. They could have done so much more with that topic.

2022-05-12 16:11:17 +0000 UTCThe woman who went to the cordoned off area in Canary Wharf with the young man in the Doctor Who finale was Martha's cousin, played by Freema Agyeman who went on to play Martha. I really don't like some aspects of this story. In particular, the cyberwoman's costume is like some fetishistic "fan art" idea of what a female cyberman would look like. And the idea that Ianto had managed to smuggle her into their new HQ and hide her all this time was really implausible. I did think that Ianto's emotional conflict was quite affecting but you are right that some earlier hint about his loss would have helped to set the situation up. I hated the bloodbath at the end and I didn't think the Frankenstein stuff with the pizza lady made any sense at all.

Ianto and Lisa were not the people we have seen in Doctor Who? I could have sworn, that those were the same people. Maybe I´m going to rewatch the finale :)

Perhaps if Lisa was shown as an obviously badly-injured person in an unfinished version of the normal Cybermen costume then people might see the episode differently. On the other hand, there's an echo in the costume to Maria in Metropolis which is nice if you're a movie fan. There are some nice bits. Ianto's anguish as he keeps trying to help Lisa is tragic. And the team are attacked from inside their own base - but even that's not very satisfying - their solution is to run away and leave it to the pterodactyl. Ianto and Lisa would have been in the Torchwood building during the Battle of Canary Wharf, but they were not the two people we saw in the Doctor Who episode.
