He is back ? I guess he´s back ....

What a finale !

Dr. Who Series 4 - The end of time

Comments

I will try that out on the next video and see what happens, i not it's not that much of a hassle to pause the copy now and again to re synch. Don't worry, take your time. I'm always eager to get to another reaction especially if there are favourite stories or big events coming up. I have one reaction channel where I'm waiting for her to get through a whole season of classic Who just to get to one scene 😂

As well as "Good Queen Bess" the unmarried Queen Elizabeth the first was known as "The Virgin Queen". In fact the American state of Virginia was probably named after her! Sir Walter Raleigh is believed to have suggested it.

The Cafe scene was great, I agree. Best writing and best performance. It´s just heartbreaking. And it always will be, for me. I don´t know any James Bond movies so the voice wasn´t really familiar to me. :) Thank you for the new expression I learnt from your comment. I´ve never heard that phrase before. :) But I absolutely agree with your opinion. Oh that last Timelord scene...WOW just WOW. I never ever expected that. And I´m glad to hear the Network didn´t spoil it either, back than. I will have to watch other reactors reaction to this scene in a year or so. In terms of spoilers I still wnat to wait a little, but this scene was a banger one :)

Nicologik

Well.....Yeah I said that. But I didn´t have the courage to watch it unfortunately. This is going to be a hard one to react to. And I´m so afraid, i think I´ll wait a few more days, until I´ll hopefully be able to watch it. And to be honest, reading your comment doesn´t make it better :D :D I have never heard of the show "Absolutely Fabulous" I don´t think it aired in Germany. Thank you for the information about the actresses. It´s always nice to know that additional information :)

Nicologik

I´m sorry the DVDs didn´t work either. Have you seen Andrews post under this video? Especially his own reply to his first post? He talks about the speed that is required to synch up the episode. Maybe that would work for you, too. :) Well, I have to disappoint you, because I haven´t had the courage to watch the next episode, yet. I don´t know when I´ll finaly be strong wnough to watch it but I wish I had more time to procrastinate for this one :D

Nicologik

Yes, he really is :)

That´s a great quote from the doctor there, thanks for sharing :) Yes the cafe scene was the worst/best.... So many emotions.... I think I didn´t get that joke. Maybe I´m going to have to rewatch the scene in order to get it :) Yes I love Minnie, I hope she´s going to come back :D And the "Alien watch gang" was just supercute. I kind of hope that they will be part of the solution to beat the Master in the next episode. That would be epic :) All those Aline names, how can anyone remember those. They are all so complicated :) Thank you for checking the speed time. I hope it´ll stay the same, so it´s easier to adjust.

Nicologik

I checked the times for "The Waters of Mars". Speed-up required: 1.04294x (1:02:06 vs 1:04:46). That's the same speed-up as this episode (within half a second over an hour). So this is probably the speed-up for next time too.

"Traveling alone. I thought it was better, I thought ... but I did some things, they went wrong. I need ...", The Doctor, "The End of Time: Part One" It's Christmas again - Christmas comes around quickly these days. And Wilf is back - yay! We all love Wilf. And that cafe scene - wow! There's a fairly adult joke early on. The Doctor was talking about getting married and mentions Good Queen Bess (Queen Elizabeth the First). He then says "And let me tell you, her nickname is no longer ...". Well, ... ok. The Doctor also says that while avoiding his return to the Ood, he named a galaxy "Alison". As with many hanging references like this, they are filled in by other authors - in this case an audio adventure from Big Finish. Remember Penny Carter? The origin of Donna's grandfather's gang was a very early idea for Penny Carter's grandfather's "Alien Watch" gang. Actually, RTD's concept of an elderly Alien Watch gang in a Doctor Who story goes way back into the 1990s - long before the "Rose" episode. And so it becomes the wonderful "Silver Cloak" gang in this story. And isn't Minnie great! The Vinvocci, the spiky aliens, mentioned that they were related to the Zocci, the red-faced race of Bannakaffalatta who we met on "Voyage of the Damned". "You're not leaving me with her!", Wilfred Mott, "The End of Time: Part One" BTW: for me, this episode needs Nicole's speed-up to be 1.043028x (episode lengths of 0:59:39 vs 1:02:13).

He is back ? YES!

I agree about the "super powers", the cloning and the awful "master race" line. They could have lost all three and made it a better story.

Ok first things first, Going from the previous conversation this time I watched using the dvd and yes the same thing happened with my version being quicker so doesn't look like there is any way round it but it's not really much of a problem. Secondly, you obviously have lots of questions so it's probably best to watch the next episode asap (if you havn't already) and then post it on Patreon as soon as you have. Or in other words can't wait for the next reaction.

I think you said you will be watching the final episode this weekend meaning (I suppose) today or tomorrow. So I'll write as if you have not seen it yet. I don't think it's a spoiler to say that if a couple of the scenes had you crying or anxious then "you ain't seen nothing yet". Wilf is such a hero and Bernard Cribbins was a lovely man. And Wilf's friends are wonderful. Minnie is played by June Whitfield. An actress who has been on British television since the 1950s. Her most recent notable role was as Edina's mother in the 1990s British sitcom Absolutely Fabulous. I have no idea whether that was seen in Germany though. The mysterious lady who Wilf keeps seeing is played by Claire Bloom who was in the 1952 Charlie Chaplin film Limelight and was still appearing in films as recently as 2018. Will your questions be answered? Some of them.....

Stephen Males

For me, there are three great things about this episode: The mysterious woman Timothy Dalton's narration The Cafe scene. The last of these is a wonderful two-hander between a couple of superb actors, and gives me shivers every time I watch it! Timothy Dalton's voice is instantly recognisable to James Bond fans, as he played 007 in the 1980s. Managing to get him for these episodes was a real coup, imo. As for the rest - it's basically an hour of naval-gazing. (Dictionary definition: "self-indulgent or excessive contemplation of oneself or a single issue, at the expense of a wider view".) There really isn't much of a story - and what little there is (the rejuvenation machine; the Master developing the ability to leap tall buildings - or, at least, piles of coal - in a single bound) is just silly. The whole contrived Finale is built entirely around the phrase 'The master race', and is completely daft.... but then we get to see the Time Lords again - and THAT took everyone by surprise, I can tell you!
