It’s been two weeks of vividly horrifying nightmares that just won’t relent, no matter what you try.
You eventually find a book filled with instructions on how to find the fairy queen’s garden, along with what offerings to present, in order to summon her.
Teetering on the edge of delirium, you manage to call the fairy queen, and she appears, complaining that she was just about to take a nap.
The fairy queen is plump and human-sized, and comes across as haughty and unsympathetic at first, commenting about your disheveled appearance, the quality of the offerings you brought her, and even the expression on your face.
However, once you (finally) have the chance to explain why you have sought her out, she agrees that it is a cause worthy of her investigation, and promptly conducts a soul scan to find the cause of your nightmares.
The culprit is a Night Mare, a spiritual parasite that takes the form of a dark horse with rotting flesh. The queen informs you that to remove it, she must first separate your soul from your body.
It is not as frightening as it seems, and she talks you through the process. Once she finds the Night Mare, she removes it, and to your surprise, shoves it into her mouth, chews, and swallows.
The queen realises that she was too harsh on you, and makes up for it by growing a bed of flowers for you to lie down in. She then offers you her lap as a pillow, and gently brushes back your hair with soft fingers as you drift into your first peaceful sleep in weeks.
