I can say this because they've finished the series. THIS is the reason that even after Kings Landing surrendered, she burned the place down. She wanted this. She wanted the people of Westeros to call her Mother and celebrate her coming. Instead they were, in her mind, ungrateful. They gave her fear and scorn and hate. No one cheered at her arrival, despite the fact that she A: had been raised from babyhood to believe they would, B: had experienced this over and over in the past, and C (really the most important reason): had lost basically every single important pillar in her life one by one in the pursuit of this goal which she'd built up in her mind. She lost her brother (abusive as he was, he was her brother), she lost Drogo, she lost Dario, she lost Jorah, she lost Missandei, she lost Tyrion (even though really she drove him away), she lost one of her dragons and then another, she lost (in her mind at least) Jon. Then, instead of throwing open the gates and calling her Mother and welcoming her like these people did after she freed them from the evil Queen Cercei, they surrendered out of fear. They didn't cheer her, they begged her to not kill them. They didn't follow the script she had built up in her mind that would have made all the loss worth it. So, she fucked them up.

And these two are killing with the predictions sometimes spot on or completely backwards 😆 I can't wait for the next one where we finally start to get some winning. I had a great time.

2023-07-28 23:06:49 +0000 UTCThey entirely fumbled the Theon Clash of Kings book stuff too and how it comes back into play in A Dance with Dragons with the Northern Plot. Like you were saying with the reek stuff they go into as little detail as possible in the show. Also, Theon was tricked by Ramsey at Winterfell and then disappears from the story until Dance. You don't see him tortured at all.

When Robb hears about Theon taking over Winterfell, Roose says that he'll send his bastard to take care of the Ironborn. We've also seen Roose's house sigil of the flayed man a couple times that looks like the X that Theon is tied too, which I believe Bridgette picked up on a couple episodes ago.

2023-07-28 22:17:29 +0000 UTC(Books spoilers, again...) * * * Also sad they trimmed down Ramsay's story a bit - he had a disgusting companion called Reek who he masquerades and pretends to have killed "Ramsay" (after presumably killing the actual Reek) to gain the trust of the Ironborn and infiltrate Winterfel. He's also so much worse in the books, if you can believe it. And really ugly, whereas the actor who plays him in the show is quite attractive when he's not sneering (which is... all the time, honestly).
