2025-01-27 21:26:12 +0000 UTCReminds me of a friend who started raising chickens. Her house cat would stare at them intently, sometimes making a chattering noise. They were afraid the cat's hunting instincts were kicking in so were extra careful to keep the furry death machine indoors. One day several chicks escaped and were running around the yard. In her panic to corral them all my friend didn't close the door completely and the cat snuck out. Much later in the day they realized the cat was nowhere to be found. Fearing the worst they distracted the kids with a Disney movie then went outside to inspect the bloody damage. Instead they found the cat curled up with the sleeping chicks, happily purring away. Since that day the cat would mother every chick born in the yard.
