I like the part on water landings. But you could also note the fact that if the ship has any sort of radioactive drive which would otherwise be a hazard to ground crew, a tail-sitting water landing would keep it safely underwater. I'm kind of curious though, is it possible to land a rocket tail down on water? Wouldn't the exhaust plume vaporize the water under the ship and thus make landing unstable? Wouldn't you have to freefall the last few meters or use some sort of soft landing jets mounted higher up on the body?

Inspiring new SF work is the entire point of the Atomic Rocket website, so you prove it is functioning as designed!

...also got me thinking about boarding actions in my 'verse, hence today's post.

Yeah, gold is an annoying brain-bug that just won't die - although, I suppose, at 2 gAu per night to stay in the Ceres motel, the gold price does seem to have fallen at least a little in the Escape-verse, albeit much less than it probably should have... On the other hand, though, I do have to credit them with also showing gAg, water credits, mutual certificates based on mining claims, and if I remember right, Coca-Cola-backed scrip as alternate acceptable currencies, which is a lot more detail than most bother to go to.

I like the fact that the payload module on the Eagle Transporter looks like it fits perfectly into the Space Shuttle's cargo bay, they really put some thought into those vehicles.

A great collection again of updates! I'd remind you that the Bebop from Cowboy Bebop was a water landing spaceship. I think it was also an air breather when needed. The article about Debased Currency made me think about the Libertarian webcomic "Escape from Terra", and the _asteroid_ miners used gold dust for currency measured out in grams and milligrams. All well in good. But what happens when they harvest your average asteroid and end up with the world's output in gold as a waste product? Someone just didn't think it through.
