Incidentally, the 190,000 tons given for the Enterprise by Sternbach was known to be excessive all the way back in the 1980s. I remember the FASA Ship Builder's Guide for the Star Trek rpg handwaved it by saying the warp drives needed neutronium shielding or something.

Eric Tolle

I would model a star destroyer as 50% polystyrene (1060 kg/m³ and 50% sea level air (1.275 kg/m3). Or basically 530.6 kg/m³. Which gives a value of 28,620,000 tons

Eric Tolle

If I have not made a silly mistake in arithmetic, about 2.6 terawatts.

OK... 54 million metric tonnes... that's the conservative estimate. What does it take to move that mass at, say, 1g?
