Which made it odd that the protagonist was musing about finding a way to produce it with tissue culture in a lab. That would throw all the monster hunters out of work. And if the tissue was stolen the planet would lose all it's off world income.

2020-09-19 12:05:41 +0000 UTCI'm reminded of Tallow-wax from the Jarvis's sea-monster in H. Beam Piper's novel _Four-Day Planet_. A long chain molecule that provides good radiation protection. (Probably all that hydrogen in the fats.)
