Account Changes + Temporary Pause

Unfortunately it has come to my attention, now that first-month pledges are starting to come in, that several people have taken advantage of the format of Patreon to get exclusive content for free. Over the last month, I had several pledgers who either stopped pledging before being charged and so got the entire month's content for free, or who submitted a fraudulent payment method and so ended up not paying for the content they had access to for the previous month. The amount of pledgers who provided fraudulent payment information alone (not counting those who pledged and then reneged before being charged) ended up making up almost 1/3 of my total pledges, a fact which is extremely discouraging for me as a creator.

The "charge up front" function is still in beta, and is not currently available as an option on my account, but I am contacting Patreon support today to see what can be done about this. Until I am able to use the "charge up front" function to ensure that this does not happen again, I will continue creating content specifically for Patreon users, but I will not be posting any of it until I can change my account over. In the meantime, as my account will not be logging any posted-for-patrons content, it will not charge you for content received, which means that if you do not remove your current pledge, it will not charge you the amount until I actually begin producing content. That way, once my account has been successfully changed over, we can pick up where we left off, with no pledges being collected without content to justify them, and no content being produced without pledges to back them up.

I apologize that a few bad eggs had to ruin what could have been an extremely fun experience for us, but I have hope that it will not hinder us forever, and we can get back to creating great content together soon!
