I'm a really big believer in "oh shit" moments. I guess I should explain that a little... I think too often we get used to our everyday routine, life, what's around us, etc. Not too often do many folks have moments where they take a step back and are in awe or humbled by what's in front of them. To me an "oh shit" moment is when you do something big, see something magical, or are humbled by something bigger than yourself. Some of my favorite "oh shit" moments have been on my road trips when I'm coming over a hill and the vast landscape is sprawled out before me or when I've peered into a tide pool and see a whole little ecosystem doing it's thing undisturbed by the world around it. Anyway, I think you get my idea of what these moments are to me. The past few year I've dedicated the first day of the calendar year to finding some "oh shit" moments and this one was spent wandering the beach with a friend, flipping over sand dollars, watching the waves, and catching a nuclear sunset. I hope my friends your year is full of these sort of moments.
