Tribute to Nanny on Lomo 100

She immigrated with her parents and little brother from Germany as a child to Ellis Island, New York. After touching base there they made their way to the Chicagoland area, Forrest Park to be exact. I'll skip the years between and jump to when her and her first husband moved to Wisconsin, Germantown. As the name probably gives it away, many German folks gravitated to this area. When the community was first forming many lived in trailers near the lake before moving on to buy bigger land and put down more permanent homes. The blue home in these images is the home her and her husband built, the home where they raised my grandmother, the home where my mother and uncle visited, the home where my brother and I would spend summers. This home means a lot to me, it's the last permanent, unchanged bit from my childhood.
