Desert Fountain

Welcome back, folks! You might notice this week's map wasn't in the lineup, but rather was a personal choice as we're between polls right now. It was brought it to my attention that I neglected to put any desert maps on the most recent poll, so it made sense to make this quickly before we started with the winners! And as a reminder, the poll is still open, so get in your votes before Tuesday the 19th!

I'm calling this week's map the Desert Fountain, a 30x30 map set in the desert among some old ruins, as well as a mysterious brimming fountain watched over by an ominous statue. You could call it an oasis, a safe place for weary travelers in the desert protected by some benevolent god, or you could call it an obvious trap, so obvious that if your players are desperate enough for a drink they could prepare for the consequences. And, before some of you remind me, I know I don't usually like to imply so much story in my maps as it limits their usefulness, but every once in a while I like to make something with a clear conflict behind it. If a number of you would prefer this one without the ominous statue and fountain, let me know and I'll see what I can do, but personally I think it's cool the way it is.

The Adept version of this week's map is a SNOWY version, everyone! That's right, I finally did it, I made a 2nd winter map after much outcry. As it turns out I draw sand and snow exactly the same, so it was a only slightly tricky palette swap as I used several effects to achieve the arid look. I know many of you are interested in wintery maps so don't think I've forgotten about you, I'll be making an effort to make more in the near future.

Adepts can find their post here!
