NOT A CHAPTER - Announcement: Taking a break

Between the holiday season, the recent death of a friend, and the upcoming end of the book (and the series!), I've been feeling a little bit overwhelmed lately and struggling to keep up with releases. I maintain a healthy backlog, so public and patreon readers don't notice slips like that, but that backlog has been dwindling lately, and as I write this announcement, I no longer have any extra chapters to draw from. I value consistency a lot, so rather than trying to release chapters as I write them, I've decided to take the time to really hammer out the ending of the series so that I can do it justice rather than rushing. I'll also be using this time to prepare for my next series, which I'll be announcing soon.

The break will be at least a week long, but unlike usual I am not confident enough to declare an exact date for the next chapter. I hesitate to call this an indefinite hiatus, as I am certain that it will be less than a month. Indeed, I'd like to resume posting by the 23rd, I'm just not certain I can keep that promise if I make it.

In the meantime, I just want to take a moment to thank everybody for all the support you've given me over the years. This community has changed my life for the better in ways that I can't even begin to describe. Thank you all very much for reading, and I'll see you again soon. Enjoy the chapter!
