'Holding Someone's Hairback' & 'In The Morning & Amazing' Live From Red Rocks

Hello Creatures!

Here is a 2 song video from our 2017 performance at Red Rocks and some words from Anthony and Nick on it. As Nick explains we weren't able to capture the entirety of the show or the most special moments but it still felt like an important piece of Circa history to share on here for you all. Needless to say seeing any video from our shows right now is bittersweet, we are missing you all so much it hurts. Dreaming of our next dance. <3 C

Playing at Red Rocks for me was one of those huge goals you sometimes dream about, but never really think is going to ever happen. I couldn’t believe it when the show was confirmed, and it almost feels unreal when I think back about it now.

I really wanted to make sure we would be able to capture the moment, so every show on that tour, I was running a recording setup to make sure everything would be working correctly for the big day. Everything was working flawlessly and every recording leading up to Red Rocks worked with 0 issues. The day came, and I checked everything a million times to make sure it was all connected and working properly. I've never been so nervous to play a show in my entire life, but the nerves melted away as the show went on. And then, probably my favorite Circa memory of all time happened. As we were closing the set with 'Nesting Dolls', it began to rain. The rain continued to build along with the song, almost as if we had a rain machine as part of our production, and Jeff was vibing hard with the “rain fader”. It honestly just felt like the perfect ending to such an incredible experience.

When we got off stage I rushed to grab my recording setup and check it out. I couldn’t wait to experience it again! My excitement quickly turned to disappointment as I scanned through the recording. The entire thing was ruined by loud clicks and shitty noise. Some songs were much worse than others but 'Nesting Dolls' was by far the worst. Completely destroyed! It’s almost like the music gods wanted that moment to stay special to the memories of all of us that were there. I accepted that and moved on.

Fast forward to launching our Patreon, and trying to dig up the best content we can for you all, I became determined to salvage something from that night. So I scanned through the show and found the 2 songs that were the least affected by the technical issues. I did my best to clean up all of the noise, but even so, you can still hear a little bit of it. A little nugget to remember the night by, I hope you all enjoy it.

Playing a venue that large and that legendary has a certain amount of pressure to a show.  You want to be really good and I remember feeling like intially the pressure almost took away from my experience but once I relaxed I started having the best time.  I think it’s the only time I’ve ever played a stage like that in my life and as we closed the set with the rain coming down It felt like one of the most magical moments I’ve ever had on stage.
