Grace is one of my all time favorite records. The magnitude of Jeff's influence on my musical journey is hard to comprehend given that his time here was cut so short. As I've sited many times in Q&As and interviews, seeing him as support for Juliana Hatfield when I was only 14 cracked open the doors to rhythms and melodies that I otherwise would have probably never found. He also completely changed the way I felt about falsetto singing but I feel like that's probably a very common effect he had on people haha. I read somewhere that Thom Yorke went to see Buckley perform when they were recording The Bends and after being absolutely gutted by how good it was went and recorded the vocals for Fake Plastic Trees.
In the early gestation days of Circa, Anthony and I would often drive around listening to just about every recording he ever made, live stuff definitely included. I remember being so inspired by his ability to shift from heavenly and serene into bizarrely heavy & discordant parts with ease... His style defied category and made you just wanna feel it rather than analyze it.
If you listen carefully you can hear his influence everywhere these days and especially any given Circa record.
