SS - Characters / Notes

So... no SS chapter today because I was planning on having a planning meeting for the next chapter, which would have involved all the important people in the village. And that involves KNOWING all the important people in the village. Sorry. :(

I spent close to four hours going through the story, taking out all the important characters, writing a blurb about each so I'll have a reference for them all... which is mroe than I've done for most of my stories. Shows how much effort I'm putting into SS.

Now, feel free to look through, most of these people will be introduced by next chapter. I would like a little feedback on a couple things:
- If you have any suggestions for lastnames, feel free to share. I'm trying to make their names sound natural, and my brain turned off for some of them. They might not be nessisary with the next chapter, but I'd like to have them.
- Magic - I've avoided locking it down, but with this I've started doing so. There are three catagories in my mind. Common elemental: Earth, Nature, Fire, Water, Air, (Electrical, ice?) Uncommon Element: Metal, Shadow, Life (sound, light?) and Bloodline magic: Ashfire, Prismatic Eyes. Are there any categories I should add, or any 'elements' I should add? Feel free to give me your feedback.
- Anyone / any groups I missed? Keep in mind, this is a small village, around a hundred people, so there wouldn't be a ton of specializations / groups, but I admit there might be another important group I forgot. If you can think of one, please let me know.

Medea Paisley Ashbourne

MC - Former Ducal princess, current leader of the kingdom of Hoarfrost. Was engaged to the prince of Iskel at a young age and did everything she could to get out of the binding agreement, including scarring her own face with the family’s signature magic. Taught how to lead from an early age, is not as familiar with the system mechanics because she expected to be exiled and to loose access to the system. Is willing to make tough decisions, and may appear to be cold, but she really cares for the people that work under her.

Medea is in her early twenties and her most striking feature is what she describes as dark cherry hair, red hair so dark it’s nearly black. She has a massive ugly burn scar over her left eye, which she inflicted on herself so the crown prince of Iskel would reject her. Despite not regretting the scar, she does like to keep it hidden, so people don’t stare.

Position: Queen

Magic: Ashflame (Special) - The Ashbourne family magic, a fire that doesn’t burn as hot as regular magic fire, but consumes magic and leaves wounds that can not be healed by magical means.

Weapon of choice: Rifle, Rapier

Camille Meadow-Walker Everly 

Medea’s oldest follower, friend, and guardian. The two of them met as toddlers, and have been together for most of their lives. Camille learned how to be both Medea’s lady-in-waiting, someone she could trust explicitly in almost any situation, as well as a shadow guard. Has a care free attitude that didn’t do well in the highly regimented ducal household, but excels in the tiny village

Position: Queen’s aide

Magic: Nature (Plant control), Air

Weapon of choice: Longbow, dual daggers

Selena

A girl who has elvish blood. She, along with everyone else of elvish heritage, were driven out of the country of Skylia then hunted just because of their bloodlines. She is highly protective of the people that survived the purge, cautious of new people, but loyal to those that earn her trust. Can be confrontational, and abrasive, but speaks her mind and isn’t afraid to confront someone when she believes they are making a choice.

Position: TBD - currently assisting Medea

Magic: Prismatic Eye - Antimagic (Bloodline - Unique) Selena has the ability to cancel out spells and abilities when looking at them. This ability has limits, this ability puts strain upon her body, and she can be overwhelmed when multiple people contribute to a single spell.

Weapon of Choice: Polearm (Halberd)

Siegward

An older gentleman who originally worked as the head butler of the Ashbourne family prior to Medea getting exiled. As a direct vassal of the Ashbourne family he volunteered to help Medea plan and run her village. A man of many talents, Siegward was the architect of many of the simple buildings around the area, and handled a lot of the day to day administration of the village. 

Position: Steward

Millie

Mille was originally a member of the ‘Extinguished Flames’, the Ashborne family’s personal spy network. She spent a number of years undercover as a servant, and chef, on the family’s estate while working on counter intelligence. She has a fairly average build, brown eyes, and brown hair pulled back into a ponytail. After years of counter intelligence work she has perfected a nondescript look. Despite the fact that she doesn’t look special, she is exceptionally skilled in stealth. Is currently working as both the chef, and head of the farmers in the village.

Position: Chef + Head of Farmers

Weapon of choice: Stiletto

Alan Carver

A lanky man, with wild, unkempt brown hair, and delicate hands. He was a tinkerer by trade, and was capable of planning and assembling very delicate, intricate, or complex devices. A capable inventor, Alan jumped at the chance to join the expedition, and come up with new devices to help out in an area where they didn’t expect to have access to any magic. He volunteered to supervise the woodworking workshop, where he spends his time whittling toys and devices.

Position: Head of woodworking + inventor

Weapon of choice: None

Jacob Micheals

A massive mountain of a man with a huge, bushy grey beard. A former ducal blacksmith, Jackob volunteered to come to the village where his skills would be far more useful. Loves working with his hands, but currently doesn’t have any work due to lack of ore and coal, so he wanders around the village doing odd jobs. 

Position: Head of Forge

Magic(Unawakened): Metal

Weapon of choice: Mace


Ezra

Standing close to seven feet tall, heavily muscled and tanned, Ezra looks like a wild woman. She has flame red hair that she keeps under control using a large green headscarf. Some people find her intimidating due to her size, and booming voice, but is one of the most gentle people in the village, until she’s angered. Recruited from outside the main ducal estate, Ezra was a well know mason in the Ashbourne duchy. Joined for the adventure.

Position: Head of stoneworking

Weapon of choice: Sledgehammer

Dierdra 

Dierdra is a petite young woman, so small that many people have mistaken her as a young girl. She has light grey hair, and flint grey eyes. An alchemist and healer by trade, dierdra worked as one of the duke’s personal physicians, despite her relatively young age. Eternally curious she joined the expedition for the chance to discover, catalog, and test new herbs

Position: Village Doctor

Magic (Unawakened): Healing (rare)

Weapon of choice: Sickle

Adrien Lauery 

Former scout for the Ashborne duchy, Adrien preferred to spend most of his time out in the wilderness instead of the towns within the duchy. His skills make him an exceptional hunter, and tracker. He doesn’t typically care for his appearance that much, so he usually hides his scruffy golden brown hair and stubble, under a long cloak. Despite his dislike of civilization he is an exceptional leader, and experienced fighter. Adrien was one of the first people to volunteer for the expedition.

Position: Hunter / Head of Leatherworking

Weapon of choice: Compound bow, longsword

Sonja 

Sonja is a mousy blond girl who is extremely shy around large groups, and people who she doesn’t know, but extremely friendly and cheerful around her friends. Medea and Camille discovered Sonja’s workshop at an early age, and she quickly became their exclusive tailor and stylist, despite being a commoner. She jumped at the chance to join the expedition, and travel to a place where her skills would be appreciated, no matter her background.

Position: Head of Tailoring

Magic: None

Weapon of choice: Pistol

Gabriel Hawthorne

Former vice commander of the Ashborne knights, Gabriel has spent his life protecting the Ashborne family. An expert in the use of magical blades (channeling magic through weapons) he is one of the few people that can not only stand up against a construct, but easily dispatch them. An extremely confident man, but not to the point of being vain, Gabriel will do whatever he needs to do to protect the village. He has been asked by the duke to keep an eye on Medea, and will do his best to intervene and protect her if he thinks she is being too reckless. (but not at the cost of the village)

Position: Village Guard

Weapon of choice: Greatsword

Elder Luceria

The eldest surviving member of the elvish refugees he has reluctantly taken up the mantle of leader of the remaining members. As a former scholar he has a quick mind, and surprisingly deep knowledge of a number of helpful topics. He will voluntarily share his knowledge with whomever asks for it, and will slowly a very familiar face around the workshops

Amelia Ashborne


The former duke of Ashborne in the Iskel kingdom. Amelia spent her life bound to the Iskel royal family by the rules imposed by the Soveriegn Stone, and the system, she had to suffer all the ‘requests’ made by the royal family. Spent years trying to find ways to break away from their tyranny, but only managed to figure out how to sever the bonds of her direct subordinates. When her daughter was engaged to the prince, a union enforced by the stone, the two of them spent years trying to convince him to take concubines, and finally exile Medea, one of the only ways to cleanly break away from the kingdom. When Medea claimed the Hoarfrost stone she was given a chance to transfer alligences, a choice she jumped at.

A brilliant leader that was taken advantage of by the Iskel royal family and forced to perform their duties. She is extremely protective of her people, and will do whatever she can to protect them.

Sharing the dark cherry red hair of her daughter, Amelia is now getting on in age. She now has some grey, including a single grey lock over her eye. Despite being over fifty she’s in excellent shape.

Magic: Ashflame (Special)

Weapon of choice: Axe and shield

Emil Ashborne


Amelia’s son, and Medea’s younger brother, Emil is a sixteen year old boy who has lived under the constant pressure of being the ducal heir. Although he is moderately skilled, he has not been able to learn the family’s signature magic. He has been trained since birth in combat, statecraft, and magic, yet he has felt more at ease in the Hoarfrost, where he doesn’t have to deal with the constant pressure. Has not decided what he wants to do with his life now that he’s not in responsible for the lives of every single person in the area (that’s his sister’s job) he is exploring his possibilities.

Magic: Fire

Weapon of choice: Bow, long sword

Alex

Alex is the head maid. First construct created, and also the strongest. She is something like a general, and organizer. Far stronger than the regular rank and file.

Magic: Water, Air

Weapon of choice: Pike, Rifle

Cellia

One of Alex’s retainers. Cellia has a sharp wit and will develop a talent for magic

I still won’t remember most of these names or the characters attached, it takes me a long time to remember names (it took a year for me to remember a co-worker’s name). For last names, consider using their job like how we got most modern names. The magic isn’t something I’m good at but maybe consider some unusual magic based on their position like tailoring or tinkering
