When the fingernails are injured, specially peeling off the finger flesh, that is a disturbing situation. That disturbance generates excitment which can be redirected into an erotic direction. That was the idea behind these tendrils emerging from under her fingernails.
Im also a strong believer in the fictional idea of the entire body being penetrated. In many ways that is what we want or imagine happening. Parasites can make it happen. So the tentdrils start from her butt, which makes you think about how it feels worming their way up her belly, chest, splitting up through her shoulders and squirming through her arms and hands.
