Originally the worm’s face on panel 1 was gonna be bigger to accommodate the extra stretchy mass for when it’s mouth is open. But I didn’t want that to be confused with the open mouth in panel 2. So I changed its closed face to be almost completely flush with its victim’s face when closed. This not only helps show the difference between open and closed, but it also helps us understand how stretchy the worm can be when comparing the two panels.
The outfit for the girl on the left is inspired by this shot of Kiyone from the Tenchi series. Her character, especially in this scene, left a big impression on my when I was young.
