Revealing our OLDEST DECAYING BARN on the farm | Behind-the-scenes photos

This week we prepared something special for our subscribers. We are showing our oldest barn, that I consider the real jewel of the farm. In the video we will share when it could be built (our assumptions) and how it is built. And of course we will count all the issues that we are facing :-)

In the meantime, please take a look at some behind-the-scenes photos. See you later, our dear patrons!

P.S.:  And guess what? We partnered with our first sponsor - Wondrium,  a cool video service full of documentaries, - for this video. Yeah!

Thank you for your advice, James! I passed on the article to Illia, he will give it a try :-) The craftsmanship is indeed spectacular, we will enjoy it untouched in the coming years, before we start the restoration.

Hello, I was really impressed as to how well the barn has held up over almost a century. True craftsman ship by the original builder. I was thinking about the problem you asked help for about finding the water source for the well. Have you tried using in tree branch and dowsing/divining for the water? https://geology.com/articles/water-dowsing/ I know if seems like it would be a joke, but people swear by it, give it a shot. It wont't cost anything.

You are very welcome! I am happy you liked the photos. An amazing piece, isn't it? I just love the barn as it is right now.

Aww... thank you, Janet! It's a pleasure to get to know you a bit more :-) Illia and I are also both fascinated with history and historic sites. Before coming to Belgium (and having kids :-) ) we travelled much more and we were visiting mostly archeological sites, history museums... Every little detail can tell so many stories. I feel a bit pity I don't have enough time to dig into the research much deeper. But one day...

Those dates engraved in the wood are AMAZING!! Thanks for sharing these photos!

I started out thinking "that's not decaying, that's in great shape!", and then I saw the later picture of the big doorway with the slanted exterior wall ... ok, maybe a little work.

Rick

The barn looks wonderful inside although some of your photos show areas that need some renovation. The carved dates and initials are worth preservation!

WoW! The Barn really dates back. Preserving the history between then and ur time now are so important. ❤️ One reason I initially found you & your farm was because my late husband was a US History teacher to Jr/Sr in High School. We shared commonality. Looking around at historic sites I happened upon a 21 yr old who was building a house from scratch in the woods and than I found you. The history I found with you is so amazing! You both had me at your concern about preserving the history of your newly purchased farm. I was not surprised at Ilia finding “Wondrium”. Have a Blessed Day! Carry On🥰

This barn is a treasure. I am hoping you will be able to salvage those beautiful beams of wood!

Your barn is living history. Amazing it has survived so much!

The graffiti dates are really cool!
