How much did the wall insulation cost us? We must be crazy...

Our dear patrons, finally I can share some update with you. Recently we bought the insulation for our walls and we would like to share with you how much did we pay for it.  It's superb eco material that is perfect for our old walls, but the price... OMG!

I would gladly answer all your questions in the comments here, if any.  Enjoy watching!

Wow, congrats on starting the renovation! It's gonna be messy for a while, but once you finish, you gonna feel the difference, I am sure. I am very glad to hear that our videos inspired you to start, we also find a lot of inspiration and information in YT videos of other renovators. Good luck with your reno!

i am about to start re-renovating my 1960 house in belgium aswell. it was already renovated partially in 2009 but they never did anything to the old kitchen and living ground floor except putting some pvc tiles on top of it. so it is quite cold floor. i got an offer for 15 cm EPS 200, 11 cm Starbeads Crystal and then 10 cm chape inclusive rebar and side isolation. so the old floor would be removed to 30cm down. it is daunting to me as i've never renovated before so looking at your videos has tought me alot, thank you. -- cheers, Andreas

Hi Darren, you must have seen it already in our latest video. If not, here is the link to the video and the timestamp where I show the depth https://youtu.be/AkGTg_0kVuY?t=828

Thanks for sharing the costing. I was thinking it would be great to see a block against the wall to get an idea of the depth of the blocks

Thank you, Sharon! It’s indeed a good progress, I can’t wait to install it…

Hi David, thank you! Hempcrete is a very cool material. It's not only transmitting humidity, and is fireproof but also deters insects and rodents. But not because it's treated somehow, it's just a killer combination of calc and hennep that provides all these features. Super eco, and helps to insulate, fight the dampness, mold, rodents and much more... I sound like a salesman :-) but I am just very happy with our choice and that it helps to solve all these problems. Still not ideal solution (insulating from inside is always bad), but at least we can find the best we can on the market.

When it comes to insulating an old brick structure the best you can afford is worth it. First thought: Not sure any one could have made insulation more interesting. Second: moisture and rodents. In this neck of the woods attractiveness to rodents/pests takes second seat to natural/sustainable. I imagine treatments (fire retardant, etc) used may act a deterrent.

I think it’s a good investment and will pay you back . It’s a nice change from digging & knocking down for Ilia too . 😀. Let’s go !

Actually, this is very exciting. It's something different and it's progress, so it's a win-win situation. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to seeing you install this! Hugs to you all from Washington State, USA
