This is the first stage of sketching a comic, the rough draft. Here I weigh what elements need to be highlighted and how in order to help the story be told. Sometimes I want to tell more of the story and 8 panels are not enough. For example, in the right-bottom panel the creature's mouth is limp. But if it's not easy to see that, I would color the inside of the mouth different from the outside or something, so that it's easier to know what is happening. Here I also test what angles give the most information, and there is a lot of erasing involved. Someday when I get a new iPad I'll record videos of my sketching so that you can see the work in motion. There's probably ten different versions that I 'threw away' before getting to this poont. The app I use is Sketchbook Pro by Autodesk.
