(Do not share this, it is you paid privilage!)
I hope you all had a happy holiday. Welcome new Patrons! The armor design for the upcoming comic is done!
This shiny chrome knight will fight a tentacle monster. I haven't designed the character inside of the suit yet, but that will just be the face and hair. I actually learned how to color chrome from design school.
there is nothing ornate about the armor to show modesty and humility. It is polished chrome to represent virtue. The brown areas are to indicate leather straps and the leather pleated skirt. Leather is a flexible and light armor. It's even fire proof. I watch and read a lot of war history everyday and I want to incorporate real practicality in fantasy and sci-fi designs.
The calf armor opens like a 40's car door with the geometric hindges spaced away from the organic plating so that it can open and close like normal. The thigh armor is completely riveted shut because they are big enough to slip on from the foot all the way to the top of the thigh.
Chains on the sides of the skirt allow for the most freedom of movement. Plating or leather is not neccesary there because of the thigh armor.
The segments shoulder armor allows the knight to lift her arms up completely. There is chainmail on the outside to protect the gap as well as to bring the shoulder armor back down when the arms go down.
The chestplate has a special neck protector that has a big visibility hole covered in chain mail.
The armor around the elbows telescopes over the forearm and bicep when the arm bends, protected the elbow at al times.
The only parts not very visible are the face plate and the elbow armor, but I engineered every inch of the armor to work in real life.
The next character does not wear armor so that one should take less time to design. And remember, in January I will be making pictures much faster since my last day at my retail job is in a few days! _(:
