But suddenly it controls the board." and its correlate with what happened with the fight between Cheetu and Morel in eps 104. Morel doesn't do anything but at the end he control Cheetu's game, and Checkmate.

The same kind of abilities that Kurapika created with his chains using various conditions and consequences lets all of these other characters do some crazy awesome abilities. There is always a price for power so the more powerful the move, the more conditions that need to be met or the more consequences using that power entails. It's such a versatile magic system it makes it fun to try and come up with your own Nen ability.
