And I love how they paired it with the scenes with Zuko and Ozai, showing the difference between a cold father who banished his son and a loving father who had to be away from his kids, but didnt want to.

Earthbenders are so well balanced when they have access to the ground and are the only benders that can continually build on tricks they did at the start of this fight or even things they do yesterday. Firebenders always have access to their element and their offense is unmatched.

2023-02-04 10:31:05 +0000 UTCThis is a great episode, First for showing the contrast between two fathers one being a true father and the other being an abusive monster. Also one thing I remember someone talking about in a video analysis of the show. In society we often look down on people with disfigurements, its sad but true. So out of context we would look at someone like Ozai as favorable to Zuko as the scar is the first thing we pick up on and we make prejudgments about. But in the show we know how these people truly are on the inside and while we are upset at Zuko for his choices we know he is good deep down but Ozai is the opposite. Good exterior but horrible interior.

AtlA is still my favorite anime of all time, this show is so FREAKIN' AMAZING, it manages to remain a kids' show while also hitting on so many real life lessons and philosophical points. It shows the brutal reality of the world, and yet manages to still show it in a hopeful and good light in the end. It's just... SO good.

Zuko has just wanted to be able to go home for so long now, he's never stopped to think what "home" is actually like. Now he has to confront reality.

The air nomads would shave their heads partially for tradition but also because it allows them to use the wind to feel attacks coming from behind them. Also they would only get their arrow tattoos when they have been acknowledged by the elders to be a master airbender

Also (and this is just my theory), I do kind of think that Azula wanted to give Zuko credit because he did choose to side with her back in that cave. She just did it in a very… conniving way, one that would also serve her best interest if it came back to bite them in the ass

But in exchange she got a useful pawn that she can manipulate with the truth. And she doesnt need it, because she just gave her father the biggest enemy bastion to hold out against him in the world. If the avatar is alive, she will take no blame and can throw her brother under that bus.
