the amount of fanfic in this episode is unreal. Keep guessing queen, you'll get in the ballpark eventually

7:35 One US POW in Vietnam actually did this. He literally pretended to be mentally handicapped etc. As a result, not only did he not get beaten, but he was able to gather loads of information. When released during a prisoner exchange, he was able to give the US loads of info about the POW conditions etc, proving the North Vietnamese were lying.

My favorite thing about this episode, is that in the beginning, the meteor was a symbol of Sokka's inability to do anything, and was a symbol of his insecurities. At the end, by forging it into his sword, he turns the meteor into a symbol of his strength, creativity, and versatility.

Acting the fool is a real strategy for prisoners. There was an American POW in the Vietnam war known by the guards as "the incredibly stupid one" Because they deemed him nonthreatening, he was given free reign of the camp and tasked with cleaning up. He used this as a cover for sabotage and intel gathering.

Some interesting facts about Piandao:
- His parents were both prodigy firebenders and disowned their son upon discovering he was not a firebender.
- He went on to become a soldier in the army, developed his sword fighting technique, and never lost a battle. He grew tired of war and deserted in order to travel the world in search of enlightenment.
- He eventually settled back into the fire nation and when he did an army of 100 men were sent to arrest him.
He defeated them all and the army never bothered him again.
- He also trained Zuko in dual-wielding broadswords.

2 things!
Aang being geared up with all that armour in the shop was done because when designing Aang originally nickelodeon wanted Aang to have a much more extreme design, prolly like him in that armour.
and
The space rock Toph gets she turns it into the Nickelodeon splat logo!

Fun fact: meteorites don't typically make for good smithing material since
they usually don't contain quartz making them very brittle and shatter easily

This is why I always classify Sokka as the leader of Team Avatar. Sure, Aang is the Avatar and tip of the spear, but Sokka's always the one who knows how to best utilize everyone's skillsets. You'll also notice that most of the time, the team normally goes to him whenever they have issues. Where he lacks in raw skill and talent, he more than makes up for with intelligence and creativity.

I didn't recognize the voice, listening to it again I can hear it. Last time I saw Robert Patrick was in Peacemaker where he plays the main character’s super racist father – great actor.
