Avatar The Last Airbender 3x6 (Book 3)

HOLY SMOKES WHAT

Avatar The Last Airbender 3x6 (Book 3)

Comments

Why are we shocked that Sozen (AKA Avatar Hitler) is a bad person? lol.

Matty C

If Roku died in avatar state we wouldn't even have this show 😅, dying in avatar state ends the cycle of rebirth meaning no more avatar

Noman Rocks

4:26 It's actually not how it works. History is written by historians, who are generally disconnected from those involved. Yes, the vicotrs will always write their own history, but that's not the history that survives.

Anzac-A1

Yeah, there's literally zero evidence supporting it that can't also be attributed to them just being close friends.

Anzac-A1

Ooh, I been waitin' for this one!

Collanaro Percalon

There is a theory that Sozin was in love with Roku. Giving him a royal artifact, interrupting his wedding, and later in the comics we find out that Sozin banned gay marriage after Roku left the fire nation. I don't put much weigh into this theory being canon, but it's a fun little Fandom thing people speculate on.

Baron Salt

That's not what it implies. It means that the history of his family is complicated but it's not only a path forward. It was meant to show to Zuko that who he was taught to be isn't who he Has to be.

Baron Salt

Ok the theories are usually wild but this one especially lawdy 😂 “did sozin make the volcano erupt” “did roku die in avatar state” hahaha I was dying

SupremeCai

The one thing I don't like about this episode is that it makes it seem like Zuko's path to redemption is available only because of his blood, but it's not a reoccurring theme so i don't hold it against the show.

Kawaii Edgelord

i am late, but I do think Korra is worth a watch. Just for season 3 alone. But in the end, do what you wanna do. I'll be watching <3

Mojo

I think you'd like Korra! People usually just dont like it because its not OG Avatar, but I think its still really enjoyable

Nik Nak

Bro how is this my 101st rewatch of avatar and only just noticed the adorable face Katara makes when Sokka grabs her hand at the end there, so cute

Ganjaman

Thank you for the episode! Id love to watch legend of korra with you! Ive never seen it so itd be cool to see it with you

Lemon Rat

I definitely disagree that Korra was just extending it for the sake of content. There are parts of Korra that's better then anything in Avatar. It may not be a timeless classic for all ages but Avatar grown up a little with all the good and bad that comes with it.

Alopex The Wanderer

Have fun with Korra! I’ll pass since I have almost nothing good to say about that shit-show, but I hope you enjoy whatever you do.

AlexXis Amadeus

Best of luck with your surgery and recovery Alicia! Super loved this episode for opening a new perspective of redeeming the Fire Nation for Zuko and Aang. Also, on whether you watch and finish Korra, I agree that as long as you're having fun with it, that's what's important in the end. 😙👍

TheCheesyWonder

Korra is great. I look forward to you reacting to it!

Princess Paladin

Thanks for all the hard work you've been putting in Alicia, really appreciate it and hope the surgery goes well <3 Damn I forgot about that plot twist! Got goosebumps as soon as Iroh said it! Thanks for the uploads queen :)

Joey Cat

Yeah, this episodes' parallelisms between Sozin and Roku together with Aang and Zuko is brilliant. And I am 1000% on board with Team "Definitely Watch Legend of Korra." Is it as good as ATLA? In my opinion, no. But that's like saying something isn't as good as Lord of the Rings. It's still very, very good on its own.

James Gheen

I like Korra, I'd watch it with you!

Jacob Harmon

THis episode was intense as kid. Zuko is for me one of the best written Char in this story and overall

Sven Hegenbart

Thanks for the episode

TrinitytheApostle

Well Korra for me definitely lacks what Aang always had. Ur abled to watch it no matter ur age. It aged so well and in wasn’t exclusively for children. I don’t feel the same way with Korra. It’s not bad, don’t get me wrong. But it’s not really good either tbh. She should probably end avatar With the good avatar. Extending content just for contents sake didn’t do it for avatar and problably won’t do it for Alicia as well..

Mohamad René Hejazi

I agree. I'd say all the books are solid except for book 2, and even that is overhated and has its own peaks.

mykanike

no she doesnt 💀 yall just want her to watch more avatar shit korra was mid anyway

Yo

Weird note, this means Aang is sort of Zuko's great grandfather... awkward

GingerBardMan

After this episode you kind of have to watch Korra to see if friendships really can transend a single lifetime.

Alopex The Wanderer

I was waiting for this episode, the best!!!!

Benji Schulman

I think the reason Toph asks about friendships transcending lifetimes is because she is friends with Iroh. She knows she will outlive him.

John McFarland

Fun fact, Roku's earth bending teacher Sud, was originally gonna be Aang's earth bending teacher before the studio came up with the idea for Toph. He's also the earth bender who kicks the boulder in the intro

Saur

The zuko realization of roku being his great grandfather is still one of the greatest twists I never saw coming but has been built up all this time I love it , I also always loved how monk gyatso was best friends with both avatars 😭

mackpinstripe

I'm personally a big fan of the scene with iroh and zuko Standing in the cell while iroh is bathed in light and zuko in shadow behind the bars showing who is truly free and who is truly imprisoned

Tyler Denny

Korra is a decent show and it is a great example of a sequel. It has done almost nothing that affects the original show, while trying to do its own thing in a way that does not make what Aang did in anyway less important. So while it doesnt hold up to the quality of ATLA, except in its villains who tend towards being pretty great, it also doesnt do anything to make ATLA less great when it is taken in as a whole. A lot of sequels fail that test.

Miklar Sihn

Roku's earthbending master was based on the original design for Toph. The original plan was to make the earthbending master a huge buff dude, but then someone joked about making it a tiny girl in the writers room and the show runners ended up loving the idea so much that we got Toph... Which was a great choice.

Miklar Sihn

There is also a reason why the fire nation is so adamant about ruling and exploiting the fact they have their own avatar. This contains spoilers for the Avatar Kiyoshi books so dont read this comment if you plan to read the books too . . . . . . . From the book we know she lived for 200 years, and that she was very ruler heavy, she was known to punish criminal hard. So imagine being the fire nation, and having a seemingly immortal woman judging the whole world for 200 years. They felt like they would never get theit chance at an avatar. So when she finally died, and their own avatar was also against them, they snapped and took such radical measures. They were planning to wipe out the nations one by one until the cycle circles around back to a fire avatar, and makes them their weapon.

VJ Sins

Is it weird that the scene at the end where they're all holding hands actually made me tear up a little? 😅

Convergeman

I mean, that's true, but it doesn't look good when Nick has barely had a good show since ATLA...

AlexXis Amadeus

Roku could not have died in Avatar State, because that would mean Aang couldn't exist. If you die in avatar state, there is no next avatar, the cycle would be broken

VJ Sins

I like it when sequel series make the effort to do things differently and explore different themes than the original. Korra is definitely a different kind of story, so even when it's plot stumbled a but and there were wierd writing choices made, I still really enjoyed it as a whole and I'm glad I watched it.

Convergeman

ROKU RIZZ! Hope your surgery goes well, along with an easy recovery. You got this Alicia Book 3 honestly is my fav book, even though it might not be as super plot heavy each episode compared to book 2, it at least is a lot less depressing.

Mieguy

Korra is only bad when you compare it to ATLA. It's still incredible for a something that aired on Nickelodeon.

Munir

One of my favorite episodes, This is another dual episode, showing both Aang and Zuko at the same time in a similar but different light. The Storm gives us both their back stories and why they both have regrets in their past. Bitter Work were they both are training and have to learn about opening their perspectives to be able to learn and become stronger. And this episode showing their ancestor's/past life's conflict and finally showing a connection that they show has been hinting at but only now fully revealed. Also remember back in the blue spirit episode where aang asked "If we knew each other back than we could have been friends." Hits a bit different now. As for Korra its good but gets way more hate then it deserves because it lives in The Last Airbender's shadow which it could never compare too. Its overall a good show and try's new things rather than trying to capture lightning in a bottle twice. Worth a watch.

Jonathan Canfield

Yeah I know he didn’t I tried making a guess and saw him die normally

aliciaxlife

UHHHH yes korra action :) But one thing to know about Korra (is not a spoiler): Nickelodeon only ever greenlit one season at the time, so Korra doesnt have the luxery of one story over three seasons and more 4 mini storys per season

Christopher Schwandt

Korra is interesting because it certainly isnt as good as the original in a total sense, and varies in quality (mostly from uncertainty of how long the series would be from what I can tell) but it also has some of my absolute favorite things in the Avatar universe. Part 3 of Korra in particular is just incredible. I do think it is worth a watch, for sure.

Derek

22:15 Roku didn't die in the avatar state the Avatar line would be over and this show wouldn't exist
