Legend of Korra Ep 9 (Book 1)

OOOO WE GETTING THE HOMIES BACK

Legend of Korra Ep 9 (Book 1)

Comments

Aang wasn't upset, but don't no 40 year old man with kids and a wife want to be called Twinkle Toes in front of the police while he's tryna be serious lol. More flustered that she wants to call him that right now while theyre about to fight a dangerous criminal.

Markus Bryant

Somehow you confused equivalent exchange with blood bending haha. No, there is no exchange of anything. It doesn't hurt yourself to use blood-bending (aside from morally)

DudeTrue

I think its understandable to upset that somebody during a professional case calls you a nickname they called you 28 years ago. Personally, I wouldnt be very offended, but its not professional. And i dont think Aang was really upset either.

Zeallust

Sokka is on the council because he's a bender like all the others. A back bender. Glad to see his skills get finally recognized.

So it is kind of weird that Aang seemed so serious, but so was Roku. Looking at how he was before when goofing off with Sozin and Giatso, he was goofy and playful. But years of having the weight of the peace of all nations and basically serving everyone, bender and non benders alike, tends to be a heavy burden I would imagine. And yeah, bloodbending doesn't cause the user pain. The only stipulation that was previously stated was that a full moon needed to be out.

Have to join the others He disliked that nickname when he was young and now as a responsible adult even more Also there was no such rule about blood bending?

When I first saw it as a teen I thought love triangles were the most played out and boring trope imaginable, but even then it didn't really impact what I thought of the show overall. Nowadays I still don't exactly think they're the best plotline, but I can compartmentalise it easier and move on.

Convergeman

No selling it would make you think there's some sort of trick happening. Maybe it's not really him or Tarlok's faking it. Seeing that stutter clears up the confusion, and makes sure you know that he is just built different.

Dyno

Pain with blood bending? That was never a thing.

Fallmuffin132

I love how they show Amon struggling with the bloodbending but powering through it rather than just have him no sell it. Showing him being affected makes him much more terrifying and I cant even explain why.

SuperBearNut

The flashbacks with the old squad older and wiser is always nice to see. Yeah Asami being real sus of Korra and Mako is understandable. So far the romance triangle hasn't been that bad, heard it can be a deal breaker with people but so far it hasn't thrown me off the series. That scene with Amon was so chilling, every time he shows up he seems invincible the whole time. Thanks for the upload Queen :)

I think you might be reading too much into Aang's complaint; he's not angry at Toph, just annoyed that decades later his friend is still using a childish nickname that he dislikes. Realistically Toph invented "Twinkletoes" purely to annoy him (because Toph), which was super endearing when they were kids; but Aang is now literally THE guy in charge of preserving world balance (also rebuilding an entire lost people) and just wants to be taken a bit more seriously. I can see both sides of this, but seeing as Aang didn't push it I wouldn't say he's being too serious, just making a request... which he unfortunately knows will not be granted because Toph. Gotta love our scrappy metalbending queen.

GingerBardMan

The only limitation on blood bending is how cruel you feel it is. Kitara was able to blood bend based on her desire for revenge and to protect her friends. Kama was only able to bend on the full moon because she wasn't a powerful bender. Kitara never tried it again because she hated how it made her feel inside. For a man like Makone he did it because he enjoyed hurting others. As for Amon, seeing him power through blood bending was terrifying back in the day when I first saw it. A popular theory was, he wasn't human but a spirit which is why he covers himself completely. Won't spoil it but the reveal was surprising.

Normally I'm on team Alicia for most of your analysis, but I think you overthought the Aang thing a bit; he wasnt mad at Toph for the nickname, but he's also not a 12-year-old boy anymore either. I'm only about 30 and I have endearing nicknames from childhood that are good memories, but not something I want to be called as a grown ass man. As much as it sucks to think about, he's not a baby like he used to be. But the fact that Toph shrugged his complaint off without agreeing to stop shows he's still Aang, he feels differently about some things as he got older but he's still gonna let her say it, even if it makes him want to roll his eyes.

Jacob Harmon

Amon is such a badass villain, even moreso than I remember him being

Convergeman

I was so happy to see Toph again, even if it was a flashback. Her calling Aang "twinkle toes" even then in their adult forms was so precious to me.

SHOCK

Bolin being a himbo ass himbo works out all Asami needs to do is ask an innocent question and Bolin answers truthfully
