Legend of Korra Ep 11 (Book 1)

You can burn someone with fire, steam, molten rock and hot air. Thatโ€™s not a change of the original, thatโ€™s an addition to capabilities

Markus Bryant

The story telling in this series is so intriguing. Loving the plot twists too. I always thought bloodbending was the coolest thing in the first series. Now they are using bloodbending for the main plot. I'm hooked!

Nakama Forever

zuko is young iroh's grandfather cause if he was zuko's son he should be as old as tenzen

BornUnMotivated

Except that, until Tarlock started doing things, there were no genuine grievances that were between Benders and non-Benders. Korra's flashbacks clearly showed that non-Benders were allowed to sit on the council (Backbending doesn't count). The richest two people in the city appear to be non-Benders and there was clearly no systemic legal discrimination against non-Benders. Now, did Benders have more opportunities for employment than non-Benders? Certainly, to a degree, but bending is a skill that requires consistent practice to be good at, and the process of industrialization was already pushing a lot of what used to Bender jobs to automation (consider, Satomobiles and the trains of Republic city powered by internal combustion engines and steam power as opposed to the old trains of Ba Sing Se what require Earthbenders). Sure, Lightning Bending for generating power is the thing now, but they're mere decades away from the most effective, cheap, and energy dense electrical generation via steam is availible... upon which time those lightning benders are out of a job. All the long term trends don't point to Benders maintaining any explicit power in society, anymore than master warriors did in real life. The critical thing that's keeping the military the domain of the Benders is the apparent non-development of gunpowder (which, to be fair, is actually one of those historical fluke developments that had the compound not been discovered by random chance in China IRL likely would never have happened until the 19th century when all other major explosives began to be discovered due to a better understanding of chemistry).

Amon using bloodbending to take away bending was meant to be the distinction between aang doing it and him doing it, its not changing the ending of avatar, just showing that Amon isnt doing energybending. And therefore its reversable

VJ Sins

When Amon bloodbends I took it as him causing nerve damage in the brain to neutralize the part that allows bending, while Energy bending permanently takes it away by affecting the person in more spiritual ways. Thatโ€™s why those affected by Amon can be reversed through supernatural healing, while those affected by the Avatar cannot have their bending back.

I don't think they ever confirmed how blood bending takes someone's bending away but my head canon is that Amon wasn't actually taking away their bending, and that it was more akin to putting up a barrier to stop them from being able to bend, similarly to how Azula shot lighting at Aang and unintentionally blocked him from entering the avatar state. Aang couldn't channel his energy to enter the avatar state and the benders couldn't channel their energy to bend.

TheDapperGent

Amon is using blood bending to permanently chi-block benders.

General Iroh is Zuko's grandson. Lets just say there is still more characters to meet in future episodes.

Deadshot1999

I do think Amon being a bender somewhat undermines his character as it implies his motivations were less than genuine. Slight spoilers but my biggest issue with how the Equalist were handled is that despite their actions, there were genuine grievances to be had with how nonbenders are treated in this society and it never really gets addressed/solved. Amon lying and misleading his people makes it so that "The Revolution is built on a lie" and he's just as bad Tarlock (which I know is the point, two sides of the same coin etc..) but It just feels like a bit of a cop out. I'm glad they point out that Amon always genuinely cared about equality, I'm just not sure that's good enough for me. I also don't like how the retcon blood bending to being able to take away bending. It just feels like a stretch.

Zuko is General Irohโ€™s grandfather not Uncle Iroh

Drai

Zuko only had a daughter named Izumi she had a kid named iroh

HeavenlyNoomba

EYO THE MOM THO?? IDK why Yakone cares about revenge with a baddie like that on his side.

I'll throw my hot take in here...I don't like Amons backstory. Mind you it might be because I had a theory that maybe when Azula "killed" Aang at the end of book 3 (I think) I assumed Amon got his abilities cause maybe he got the spiritual side of the Avatar power while Korra got the bending side, like and Yin and Yang sort of spilt with the Avatar state...but thats just me being salty I was wrong XD

19:05 I think people were giving you fake spoilers to mislead you, like saying a certain character in Stardust Crusaders was dead when they weren't.
