2023-06-09 22:33:43 +0000 UTCSpiders don't have vocal organs. Kumoko isn't actually speaking. She's she thinking and viewing it this way. Heck, even her anime eyes are just the way she sees herself. She doesn't actually look like that (for the eyes). The way Kumoko looked from the humans' pov seen in this episode when they were burning her nest is how she really looks like.

2023-05-27 04:38:08 +0000 UTCSeeing that the two stories switching back and forth I did assume they were happening at the same time I think until this ep, and you se that from the human's perspective, Komoko the Spider doesn't have her human-like featerures she has in her own perspective, so aside from the humans having the opportunity to learn this worlds fantasy language while our Spider only knows Japanese and probably English a bit, I don't think her spider body can actually talk

Yeah, the flashback is literally talking about the events of episode 1 where they burned down Kumiko's nest 15 years ago, back when she tried (and failed) to eat the Earth Dragon egg. I'm not sure if they fully realize the implications of this or not, but it's probably worth pointing out that they are on the right track here since the first episode was a pretty good while ago.

In the original source material (Light novels), the human and Wakaba sections were not intercut like this, it actually just focused entirely on Wakaba for a big portion before ever touching on the school.

I think it was around last episode when the teacher took that other guy's powers where I started getting a little more intrigued in their side of things, but for the most part I was just wanting to go back to the spider too 😅
