Nepotism tends to be rife in many major industries in Japan, at times it is less what you know and who, so long as you don' fuck up majorly bosses will show clear favouritism which will lead to a quicker career path. This is one of the reasons Kana's career plutoed due to being a brat and no one wanting to hire her despite her talent. It's not helped by the agencies who will demand that their talent be prioritised over anyone else, leading to projects to bend over backwards to keep an agency happy. This was shown in episode 1 where Ai's scenes in the TV drama were cut so she didn't overshadow the agency backed lead. A key issue though I think for Aqua is if he became an actor he would most likely need to sign on with an agency, who will have a degree of control over what he does, which would probably run counter to what he wants, revenge. It's easier as a backstage worker to move in-between productions than as an actor and to get to know people, to a degree. It would be easier for him to snoop around has staff over being talent, where everyone is looking at you.

Seeing Alicia's background giving her more insight into this show makes me wonder how different Japan's entertainment industry is from Hollywood. Like in her spiel about ADs, could it be easier to obtain the job in the Japanese industry? I don't know but I'm interested.

Oh yeah, there's a whole online nerd debate about what an Isekai actually 'is'. Because most people can agree you go to a different world, but that can mean a lot of different things. Like is Alice in Wonderland an Isekai? Because she doesn't die, but she does go to a different strange world where full of strange creatures and stuff, so a lot of people would say it counts. But then is it an Isekai if someone, say, goes to another planet in a science fiction film? Because that's a 'different world'. But saying Star Trek is an 'Isekai' feels kind-of wrong, doesn't it? There's a way different vibe from that and someone, say, being transported to a fantasy land where they have no way back home. And then you have weird edge cases like Inuyasha and Digimon, where they go to a new world full of strange creatures but they also go back and forth a lot. So... does that count? Does it not? Is Tai an Isekai protagonist until he goes back after beating Etemon and then it stops being an Isekai??? It really does raise a lot of questions without any real answers. I guess it just goes to show that most common terminology just kind-of falls apart in weird ways the closer you look at it.

I have to agree that collabing with other creators can be super daunting. Your own personal experiences aside, it’s always a risk since you rarely ever know the person well enough. They could be fine one day, but then say something super out of pocket the next, making you look bad by association. This was a huge problem in the VA/ASMR community believe it or not. Bunch of people getting rightfully called out for things they were doing with minors, toxic bullying and gaslighting, and just overall just being shit people. It’s the reason I fell out of love with content creation, so I 100% agree on the collab front being super iffy.

There's a lot of episode 6 that's the most real I've ever seen in an anime, I'm excited to see her reaction and most importantly her thoughts on it
