this is the first time, and Luffy even points it out in his argument with Sanji, that Oda shows that while Sanji shows kindness by feeding people he also does it to show value. Sanji willing to die for the restaurant in my opinion is the beginning of a really sad pattern of self-sacrifice, but instead of for noble reasons, it seems to come more from Sanji thinking he has little to no value compared to the other Straw Hats so he always tried to sacrifice himself for them because they have "more value" as people than himself. It is super sad and one of the aspects I feel people miss out on with Sanji because they relegate him to the pervert gag character most of the time.

You nailed it. Sagas are made up of a series of arcs in one location. This is East Blue Saga, then Baratie Arc.

Within the East Blue Saga there are 6 arcs (+ 1 filler arc) and you’re currently on the 4th canon arc, Baratie. First is the Romance Dawn arc- this includes Koby, Alvida, Luffy backstory and recruiting Zoro. Then we move onto the Orange Town arc with Buggy and recruiting Nami. Then the Syrup Village arc is Kuro and recruiting Soup. Other than Baratie which you’re in the middle of, there are 2 more canon arcs (which I won’t name for spoiler reasons) after this one in the East Blue Saga- arcs are often broken up by location so usually when we go to another island or something and come across a new conflict/story line, you can usually assume you’re in a new arc. Hope that makes more sense now and I hope I haven’t confused you even more lol!!!

not so fun fact while in the anime zeff was show to have lost his leg to save sanji in the manga he rip his own leg off so he could eat it and leave all the food to sanji while the moment in the anime is cool for the story I fount it more impactful in the manga

ep 26 is the reason i started to like sanji so much and the old man not very many people can say or even begin to think how hungry you would be after not eating for as long as they had to endure. It also explains why they didn't care even for a second about feeding people who were hungry because they don't want anyone to feel that way. Its nice and extremely cool ^^

That is something I don't understand. In the Manga Zeff lost his Leg by smashing it with a stone and eat it to survive, wich is way more Tragic and sentimental 'cause he would gave up the main thing that made him a known Pirate only so that Sanji survives. Why did they changed that?!? There are a Lot and I mean a LOT of changes within the Anime but Zeffs moment is one of two changes I only get mad about... Anyway have great day ;)

In general most people refer to arcs rather than sagas. Arcs are named for the island/location they're at for that story, which is unique for shonen but works for OP's formula of a long voyage.

when it comes to arcs and sagas and what not in One Piece it's first split into the first and second half so 500+ episodes each and then in that it's split into Sagas like all of the East Blue arcs are one Saga and then the Sagas are split into arcs and arcs can be everything from 2 episodes to 100+ episodes so it's all over the place.

(It was cut due to the notion of Cannibalism not really wanting to be spread). 2.)When this backstory first came out many of us realized if the 'border goes black' (signal in manga of flashback), you should probably prepare for sadness XD because no one's life is without struggle in One Piece

You can still kinda see what Sanji is supposed to be reacting to with his confusion turning to shock, I think I like the manga version better because the stuck leg thing in the anime would have drowned Zeff so that wasnt really a choice at all, but them landing on the island and choosing to give Sanji all the food and choosing to smash his leg off with a rock is so intense

I believe each story (like ussop's Syrup Village Arc) is basically an arc within a Saga. So all of these arcs; syrup village, orange, the baratie, are a part of the East Blue Saga. Arcs vary a lot in length, though.
