2023-08-04 03:30:52 +0000 UTCAn interesting foreshadowing that I noticed on my second viewing with you was how they framed(?) Geto when he was talking with Yuki. When she was telling him about how he has two possible selves and how he's "not at that stage yet" you get a bird's-eye view of him and a lighting fixture that creates a divide between him and the hall to his left. Then she points down that same hall and states its the part of him that "is despising non-sorcerers and then points down the hall in front of him as the hall that rejects that idea. So having the lighting fixture placed where it is in the prior shot becomes a line he hasn't crossed yet. It also cleverly covers Yuki so the focus is entirely on Geto and his state of mind. Then when he is in the village with the imprisoned girls there are two candles that create two sets of shadows for Geto one more faded than the other. One of the candles is clearly shorter and running low. It's light fading as Geto decides what to do in his current predicament. When he finally decides to kill the villagers there's only one shadow and one candle remaining showing he has decided on a path.
